Replacing Existing Equipment.

1. If your existing equipment does not seem to be adequate for your home, please do a Manual J on your home, to properly size your equipment.

It’s easy to do and only $49.00 for a one time use. HVAC-Webdirect will refund your $49.00 if you purchase your new system through us once you have completed your Manual J.

2. If the existing equipment has been fine for your home, you can most likley just rematch sizes and do an exact replacement that will of course be more efficient.

Go to the outdoor air conditioner or heat pump and look for a name plate/tag and get the model number. The model number gives the tonage/BTU’s.

Example:
Model/ Number RAKA024JAZ
The 024 stands for 24,000 BTU’s or 2 Ton
12,000 BTU’s Equal 1 Ton

Conversion Chart:
18 = 18,000 BTU’s or 1 1/2 Ton
24 = 24,000 BTU’s or 2 Ton
30 = 30,000 BTU’s or 2 1/2 Ton
36 = 36,000 BTU’s or 3 Ton
42 = 42,000 BTU’s or 3 1/2 Ton
48 = 48,000 BTU’s or 4 Ton
60 = 60,000 BTU’s or 5 Ton

Some manufactures use slightly different numbers like:
RPGB019JAZ
RPGB025JAZ

Still use the 019 or 025, but round to the closest BTU’s or Tonage.

Example:
19,000 BTU’s will still = 1 1/2 Ton
26,000 BTU’s will still = 2 Ton

*Very old equipment E-Mail us the manufacturers name and model number and we will research information to tell you the BTU’s or Tonage. Email Us.
